Admissions Process

We are currently accepting students on the first come first serve basis and will continue enrollment until grade levels are full. Please send an email to   to request an application be mailed to you or for more information.

Lottery

If there are more applications than openings in any grade level, then by NC law a charter school must conduct a lottery. Enrollment priority will be given to the children of the school’s initial board members and full-time staff.

Wait List

A Wait List for each grade level is created when all openings in that grade level are filled, and students on the list will be contacted if and when an opening occurs. Names are added in the order completed applications are received. It is probable that Charlotte Learning Academy might offer a spot to most families who meet the Lottery deadline.

Process

For each completed application, an index card will be placed in a bowl and randomly drawn, by grade level, one card at a time. After openings are filled, the cards are drawn to determine the order of the Wait List, by grade level. Families are notified via the school website and in writing of Lottery results (grade placement or wait list placement).
